Winery History
History of
ZOU Still wine
The Union des Vignerons is a cooperative company in which more than 300 growers share the same facility and tools to vinify 2500 hectares.
This cooperative system is very developed in the south of France and is by far the most sustainable way to produce wine.
The cooperative belongs to all its members. Among these 2500 hectares, the head winemaker Frederic Garrabou and his team have strictly selected the best plots and varietals to create the ZOU wines. The Union des Vignerons cooperative has been created in 1972. Now sons, daughters and grandson, granddaughters of the original founders have taken the vineyards and cooperative back with the same spirit and determination to extract the best of our wonderful terroirs from the south of France.
ZOU is more than a wine — it's a celebration of heritage, unity, and craftsmanship. Every bottle reflects generations of growers who pour heart and history into the vineyards of southern France.

History of
ZOU Sparkling wine
Located in the heart of Limoux, Françoise and Baptiste dedicate their life to handcrafting premium sparkling wines.
For 7 generations, they have been cultivating vines on this legendary terroir, where the world first sparkling wine has been crafted in 1544 (one century before Champagne!). Among the 7 generations, 5 were women with a strong character, leading the way to Limoux recognition in France and abroad.
More than being the cradle of bubbly wines, Limoux is also a fantastic place because of its terroir, where a gentle Mediterranean climate meets the altitude of the Pyrenees mountains. This explains why Françoise and Baptiste can produce sparkling wines offering at the same time a charming fruity profile, with still a delicate freshness.
The total vineyard is 24 hectares cultivated organically for 3 years now, with 15 hectares of land that are going to be replanted on beautiful altitude parcels.
